Salt Lake Artists Against Genocide (SLAAG) is a mutual aid collective made up of artists who donate their time, materials, and work. Unless stated otherwise, 100% of the proceeds from our events go directly to people affected by genocide. We are transparent with our community when we divert funds to cover costs such as purchasing stock (e.g., Nabulsi soap bars, Palestine Colas) or venue rental fees.
We do not partner with organizations, business, and/or individuals who use genocide for personal gain, profit, or self-promotion. We are committed to abolition, liberation, dismantling white supremacy, decentering whiteness, and fighting against eugenics.
We uphold Palestinians’ inviolable national rights:
-
-
The right to resistance
-
-
-
The right to self-determination
-
-
-
Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine
-
-
-
The right of Palestinian people to return to their homes and lands which are currently occupied by so-called “Israel”
-
We acknowledge that the Timpanogos, Shoshone, and Goshute people have been actively fighting colonialism on stolen land for centuries and prioritize taking direction from them.
We seek to amplify the voices of those most affected by colonialism including Black, Indigenous, trans, migrant, refugee, QTBIPOC, femme, and folks with disabilities. We seek to build community power and coalitions, and facilitate spaces where these relationships can flourish.
We recognize that colonization takes many forms and aims to erase people and culture. We aim to amplify voices in Congo, Sudan, and those in the global majority (global south) who are actively experiencing the effects of colonization.
